I am a fully qualified and insured Bowen practitioner based in Haverhill, Suffolk.
For 20 plus years I worked in television as a producer and it was in that time I unexpectedly discovered Bowen.
Bowen made an appearance in my life, when a very dear friend of mine was at a pinnacle moment with her health, having to make a serious decision to venture down the road of invasive medical intervention and have a back operation or seemingly suffer excruciating pain ad infinitum. Her body had got to a point where after sustained trauma, it had literally shut down, rendering her virtually immobile and in agony...
Reluctant to go the surgery route, she had looked into and tried other modalities to help alleviate the pain, but nothing had worked and she was stuck, immobile and in excruciating pain. Until she found Bowen Therapy.
Having received 4 treatments of Bowen, I witnessed my friend go from a shell of herself to the active and upright person she was before, I was astounded. Her recovery was more or less immediate, non invasive and totally amazing and it was then that I knew I needed to learn how Bowen Therapy worked.
I immediately looked into options of where I could study Bowen Therapy and I qualified at the end of 2011. Early 2023, wanting to fine tune and super charge my practise, I took a diploma in Assessment Led Bowen Therapy with Phil Steward. This way of working has enriched my Bowen practise and been a game changer, not only enabling a more precise treatment but enabling better results, in quicker time for my clients.
Bowen Therapy, while widely practised and known around the world, does not have as publicised a name as other holistic treatments like Reiki or Acupuncture even though the efficacy and success is reiterated by thousands of testimonials across the globe.
I’m here to support your holistic approach to your health with the intention of helping you contribute to an positive overall improvement in health and sense of wellbeing.
Many of my clients have endured weeks, months and sometimes years of “living” with aches and pains, feeling under par and generally not right. Often they have tried other modalities, prescription medication and pain relief, conventional or other alternative therapies.
A main difference is that Bowen Therapy looks at the body holistically and addresses the body as a whole structure, meaning that when a client comes to see me, more times than not, the issue the client presents with, is not where the dysfunction actually lies.
Bowen Therapy works to remove underlying and hidden dysfunctions so that the body is able to realign and balance itself.
By assessing the body before, during and after treatment I am able to direct my work to the areas that need attention. By working with my hands, I employ gentle but firm manipulation of the underlying structures of fascia and muscles which in turn stimulates the central nervous system. The brain receives information in this way and signals the body to not only release and relax but to start the healing process. Encouraging the body to affect the changes it needs to regain balance and functionality.
Think of your body as an onion! There are layers to what is going on that has brought your body to where it is and why you are here for a treatment! In treatment we are peeling back the onion layers to reveal the underlying layers of dysfunction and correcting them!
Each treatment is personalised to you and focused on what you are experiencing and the issues you are holding in your body.
A Bowen Therapy treatment can last up to 60 minutes. The first appointment includes a consultation/treatment and costs £55.
